Boy With A Ball Tutors

Helping Students Thrive in School On the Road To Reaching Their Dreams

Nobody likes a bad report card and nothing creates more tension between a parent and child than bad grades. As a student, it is easy to feel as if you have failed and to even start doubting your ability to get back on track. As a parent, helplessness can quickly give way to anger, frustration and lashing out at your child.

Sadly, one of the most common results of a student struggling academically in San Antonio, Texas is the student dropping out of school. Texas's dropout rate is among the highest in the nation, a point that is filling up political speeches but financially-strapped school districts and families are finding difficult to alter.

Boy With a Ball's mission as a youth, family and community development organization is inextricably linked to education. Whether we have provided the school supplies and uniforms to help kids get into school or the one-to-one, relational tutoring and support necessary to keep them in school, education has evolved as a central focus for Boy With a Ball and one that we have learned to engage with excellence.

BWAB San Antonio Tutoring CenterBeginning in April of 2010, Boy With a Ball began recruiting, interviewing, screening and hiring a diverse team of highly-skilled, highly-relational and passionate professional tutors who will be available to begin providing in-home, one-to-one tutoring in May of the same year. Any interested applicants can contact BWAB's Evaluation Director Joy Sheraden to obtain an application and tutor profile. You can also download the application to begin filling it out now.

If you are a parent or student in need of tutoring, Boy With a Ball offers tutoring for elementary school, middle school, high school and university students for fees ranging between $35-$45 an hour, depending on the needs of the student and the education level of the tutor. Tutoring sessions can also be held at Boy With a Ball's Olmos Park Tutoring Center or at a public site close to your home. BWAB tutors are also trained in one-to-one mentoring to ensure that their impact on students goes beyond the classroom.

Additionally, Boy With a Ball is currently developing two scholarship programs for students who qualify for the Texas free lunch program.
