Developing Community in San Antonio
Community Development at Rosemont Apartments
Boy with a Ball San Antonio (BWAB SA) has worked to establish several areas of community development within the San Antonio area over the last year, most recently a program operating within the Rosemont at Highland Park apartment complex on the South East side of the city.
Currently, each Saturday a team of volunteers conducts a walkthrough, a relational community outreach, to establish and deepen relationships as well as learn about the needs of the area. Every Thursday, BWAB SA partners with the complex's Activity Center and offers Homework Help (tutoring) after school. During the summer, this program will become a literacy program aimed at bolstering the reading levels of the school-aged children and helping their overall academic development.
On Saturday June 18, 2011, BWAB SA will be partnering with several local organizations to hold a Community Get-to-Know-Us Event from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., allowing residents to get to know the BWABSA staff as well as the programs and opportunities available to them.
